How Do I Deal With Death and Dying?

In our hospital, five deaths in a chaplain’s shift is a big day. Often, there will be days with only one or two in 24 hours. Which means that several hundred people don’t die.

But because the death rate in life is 100%, we will all end up having to stand with families during death. Every one of those moments is different. However, it is possible to prepare yourself for the kinds of questions, the kinds of reactions, the kinds of challenges that will come.
